Beleriand

Beleriand was the part of Middle Earth to the west of the Ered Luin and Ered Lindon mountain ranges. Most of the events in The Silmarillion took place in Beleriand. At the end of the First Age, nearly all of Beleriand sank below the sea during the destructive struggle between the Valar and Morgoth. All that remained were some parts of Ossiriand which formed the eastern part of Beleriand. In maps from the Third age, this forms the region of Lindon west of the Blue Mountains.
