DJ Steil

DJing at Havana in the early 90sDJ Steil (Steve O'Neil) first began DJing in the late 80s at various house parties under the name DJ Coolcut and demonstrated an early knack for mixing and scratching. In the early 90s, he DJed in some of Perth's top clubs including Havana and Berlin. In addition to becoming known as one of Perth's premier DJs in the early rave scene, he was also frequently asked to DJ for hip-hop/R&B events, as well as DJing for more commercial events, demonstrating his versatility.

State DMC final 1991After taking a break from DJing, he began DJing again in the 90s under the name DJ Steil, DJing at several raves, as well as doing a lot of mobile DJing around Perth. The wide variety of gigs, such as parties, weddings, balls and teenage dances have provided experience in catering to a wide variety of crowds, though he has always had a soft spot for the more underground styles such as breaks and techno. Since 2000, Steil produced a range of mix CDs and DJed regularly on RTRFM's Dawntreader and Beats Per Minute shows, before moving to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia's goldfields and DJing there for several years.

Now, with the help of some up and coming DJ talent, he is ready to provide the best of old and new dance music. If you want something different from the usual entertainment, then make a booking with Steil Sounds.
