LDS Theme Version 1.2 Thank-you for trying the LDS Theme. We hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as we have. If you are inexperienced at using themes, please read on for instructions. Otherwise, install the theme and let us know what you think. WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION REQUIREMENTS INSTALLING THE THEME WHERE YOU CAN GET THIS THEME FROM UPDATES NOTES HOW TO CONTACT THE THEME'S CREATORS WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION The theme now includes the CTR screensaver. The additional icons have been combined into one icon library file with a .icl extension. To change to another icon, you need to specify all files from the icon file type and then select the lds icons.icl file. You can then choose an icon. In this version the background picture has been changed from a bitmap (.bmp) picture to a JPEG (.jpg) picture in order to make the zip file a little smaller to download. This will work fine unless you have installed either Frontpage 97 or Office 97. These install a new jpg filter that is not compatible with Plus. If you try to install a theme that uses a jpg file Plus will perform an illegal operation and crash. The LDS_Theme zip file includes a file that will fix this problem. To use it follow these steps. 1. Find the folder where plus has been installed on your computer (usually c:\program files\plus\). 2. From that folder, delete the file Themes.exe 3. An updated Themes.exe file is included in the LDS_Theme zip file. 4. Replace the old Themes.exe with the one from the zip file You will now be able use themes with jpg backgrounds such as the LDS Theme. REQUIREMENTS To use this theme, you should have Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Plus installed on your computer. If you don't have these, you may still be able to use some components of the theme. The theme is designed for a screen setting with a resolution of 800 * 600. If you have another resolution selected, it would be a good idea to set your plus settings to "stretch wallpaper". It is also recommended that your display is set with higher than 256 colours. The theme will work fine in 256 colours but won't look any where near as good. A valid temple recommend is not an essential requirement but keep it up to date anyway. INSTALLING THE THEME The easiest way to install the theme is to use a copy of a program such as Winzip for windows. Unzip the lds_theme.zip file into the same directories that the files are archived in. This will put the following files in their respective folders. The files logo.sys, logos.sys, and logow.sys are the pictures that display when you start and close windows. When you unzip the file you will get a message asking if you want to replace the old files with these ones. If you want LDS start-up and shut-down screens select yes. If you'd rather stick to to regular windows screen select no. If you do use the ones from this theme you may want to make copies of the old ones first. When you have unzipped all these files, go to control panel and double-click on the Desktop Themes icon. The LDS theme should now be available from the list up the top. Planned changes include more sounds and more pictures of temples to select as backgrounds. NOTES This theme includes several icons and sounds that aren't used by the theme. They are simply alternatives that you can use. The background picture shows the Sydney temple. Future updates may have a wider selection of backgrounds. If you would like to make some improvements to this theme eg. new cursors please let us know so we can include the changes in future updates. This theme is postcard ware.
