- A local cat and the toughest, meanest cat you could imagine. Also one of the most popular characters in Footrot Flats. He sleeps in a box of broken bottles - how much cooler can you get?
Many of the characters in Footrot Flats were inspired in some way by real life characters/animals. Horse on the other hand was actually based on a real cat. There was a very tough stray cat that used to hang around Murray Ball's place which became known as Horse.
 The beginning of Footrot Flats 7 had a section commemorating this cat since it had recently died. To the right is a photo of the real horse. Although the real horse is gone, his memory lives on along with Wal, the Dog and the rest. What better way for a cat to be remembered.
